Who is group funeral cover for?
Stokvels, burial societies, church groups and other community groups that want to cover their members under one policy. Your group needs at least 15 members.
What is the minimum group size?
You can start from just 15 members.
Who is covered?
The policy can cover the main member, their spouse, their children and extended family members.
Is there an age limit?
Yes. The maximum entry age is 84.
How much cover can our members get?
Cover depends on your group’s size. Groups of 250 members or more can get cover of up to R50 000. A consultant will take you through the options that fit your members and your budget.
Are there waiting periods?
There is no waiting period for accidental death. The standard waiting period is 6 months, reduced to 3 months where the cover amount is less than R5 000. The waiting period for suicide is 12 months.
Is repatriation included?
Yes. On approved claims, we cover transport from the mortuary to the place of burial where the distance is more than 250km.
How are premiums paid?
Premiums are collected by debit order from the group’s bank account.
How quickly are claims paid out?
We prioritise fast payouts. Valid claims are paid within 24 hours of receiving all the claim documents. Real time payment regardless of bank account.
Who insures the policy?
The policy is insured by Old Mutual Alternative Risk Transfer Limited (OMART Life), a licensed Life Insurer. MyMeerkat FSP is an authorised financial services provider (FSP 50979).
