Who can apply for Meerkat Funeral Cover?
You can apply if you're a South African resident aged between 18 and 60. You can cover your spouse, children up to age 21, parents and in-laws up to age 75, and extended family members. You'll need a valid South African ID or a visa of at least 2 years.
Extended Family members need to be your biological relation. For the purpose of the policy an extended family member is defined as one of the following in relation to the policyholder:

What happens if I miss a premium or payment?
Don't worry - there's a one month grace period if you miss a payment. If the premium isn't paid within that grace period, the policy will lapse. If you're struggling, contact us before the grace period ends and we'll do our best to help.

Is Meerkat a licensed insurer?
Yes. MyMeerkat FSP (Pty) Ltd is an authorised Financial Services Provider (FSP 50979), regulated by the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA). You can verify this on the FSCA's public register.
What is not covered?
Like all insurance policies, there are some exclusions. Claims are generally not paid for deaths resulting from suicide within the first 12 months of the policy, or where fraudulent information was provided when applying.
